Last friday, a show at the annex….

Soil, My Ruin and The Blank Theory. Soil and blank theory were okay, but My Ruin really stole the show. 3 females and a dude in the band, and that’s not why they were cool. They just had a great energy, and plain out rocked and won a bunch of new fans over.

My digital camera broke a week or so ago. After searching on the internet about it, I found that it’s a pretty common problem. The lens would not go back into the camera and then it would stop with an error of “E18″ It’s still under warrany and I Airborned it to their repair center near Chicago. I shipped it 2 day air last tuesday. I received a letter yesterday stating that it was received and it’d be about 10 days for it to get repaired. Today, I got home, and it was here. All done! They put in a new lens and it works fine! The best part though, was the fedex label had something written from the driver. “Cool cat in the window” Torrie likes to sit there. :D

So, at work we got a new computer that can actually, like digityze video. So we can like, um, bring video clips on laptop to clients, burn them to DVD, etc. We’re in the 90’s now! But it’s cool to have some new stuff to learn and “play” with. The next issue is to let people that would actually bring it out on the road to know what we can and can’t do. So I’m working on a PowerPoint presentation to show what’s up. I just started today, and while i’m the computer guy at work and fix problems here and there in PowerPoint, i’ve never started my own presentation and figured out how to do everything. So it’s a neat, fun thing from both sides, I can actually use the software, and show off a little bit.

NHL Hockey season is almost done. I’m still in 2nd place in my fantasy hockey league on sportingnews.com, but on yahoo, 2nd from last! It’s still kind of fun, but I’ve never really been able to grasp the draft based (yahoo) fantasy hockey game. Oh well!

I have Tim this weekend. Not sure what’s going on, but I think we might re-arrange the living room here to make room for the piano that my mom doesn’t want anymore! I think I’ll learn the real chopsticks song. I knew it once, but I should try again? sure, why not? hah

Dream Theater!!!
Saturday 20 March 2004 @ 5:16 pm

Last night and the night before I got a chance to check out my favorite band again, Dream Theater. They played in Milwaukee on Thursday, and it was a kick ass show as always. 3rd row seats and it was great! A little shorter of a set than promoted, but it was still 2 hours and 40 mins long… from ONE BAND. A lot of times you get a show that long with two bands! I went with mike and we hit the Pinecone on the way home for a nice recap of the events.

Friday I had off, and checked out Dream Theater in Chicago at the Riviera theater. This was the 21st time I have seen them in concert. An awesome setlist, some cool seats in the balcony. Mike and I met up with Tom and Bruce and they drove from the park n ride lot to the downtownal area. So, Thanks to those guys! I wanted to get there early enough, as it was general admission, so we’d get somewhat decent seats. We were there an hour early and the line wasn’t too bad. We got in and got about the 8th row up in the balcony with a nice full straight on view of the stage… from a seated position! So yeah, yadda yadda yadda, it was a great show! :D Great Setlist, it was loud, but I had da earplugs! :)
I’m still holding 2nd place in fantasy hockey, and that’s probably where I’ll end up.

That’s about it for now.

Wow

I haven’t posted in so long, my page is blank!

So, let’s see.

I was sick from work yesterday, kind of a head cold.

I upgraded my photo gallery to a new version… I added a “skin” to it, so it looks more pretty i supposed, I finally got my photos from Milwaukee Metalfest up, yeah, that was from July! So, yeah. New Gallery, New Look, and even some New pictures.

I saw a death metal concert last Friday night. Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Hypocricy and Vile at the Rave in Milwaukee. It was a pretty good show. Lots of energy and fun to watch. Andy, Mike and I stopped at the Pinecone in Johnson Creek on the way home, for a nice greasy meal and to recap the evening. That’s always a fun time!

On Saturday (2/28)… I met up with some friends at the Capitol Brewery for Bock Fest 2004. Yeah. I was just going to actually get out on a Saturday. Got there early enough to get a free mug. ($3 if you were to buy one) 32 oz of Blonde Doppelbock goodness. I was told later in the day that this particular flavor has 9% alcohol, that’s 18 proof to you and me. I ran into some old friends and co-workers during the course of the day. That made it pretty cool. I actually felt like I knew people! Wait, I do actually know people! Amazing things happen when you leave the house. So, they threw beads off of the roof a few different times. (i got a few strings, then later taken away by theives!) I ended up with ONE string of beads for a souvenier. Later on, was the main event. The fish throw!? They had a bowl of smoked smelt, yes, real smoked fish and threw them off of the roof, for people to catch. Apparently, if you catch a fish, and turn in the head, you get a free beer. Well, I say “the head” because, a smoked fish thrown off of a, say, 3 story building into a waiting person’s hand will disintigrate on impact. ICK! So, needless to say, I stayed away from the fishies. After that whole fun-ness at the brewery, i had to leave and meet up with some other friends for dinner and a movie.

Went to Q’doba for some burrito action, then to the movie… Mona Lisa Smile. It was okay, but in all honesty, I think I may have dozed off once or twice ;)

I saw 50 First Dates with a friend last Tuesday (2/24)… that was a pretty good movie. Definately not anything new in the line of a plot, kind of Groundhog Day-ish, but still very funny in its own right. Great casting, with Sean Astin stealing the show!

The weekend before, I had Tim. Saturday, we just came back home and hung out, which was cool. No Grandparents or anything, just me and Tim. Sunday, i went with a friend and her kids bowling. Quite a new experience I tell ya. Hanging out with 3 little kids in public. I actually felt like a grownup! Well, someone had to be in that situation, and since, I guess I’m older than the kids, I have to slide into that role. :P

Fantasy Hockey had its ups and downs. I was riding high in first place with a good salary level. Now, it’s a different story, first place is a distant memory. But I’m holding ground, for now, in 2nd place.

I promise I will post more. I’m such a slacker!
