All Stars
Today, the NHL All-Star game was on. They try so hard to promote hockey as a great sport, comparing it to the other major sports, and well, honestly, I don’t think it helps. They are saying this and that about the heart of the players, and how great they are, when in reality, they appear to be dissing the other sports. They were coming off as jaded exes, mad that their sport isn’t as popular. I do agree, it is a problem, I love hockey, it’s a great sport, and it’s not just about fighting and beating people up. The All-Star game and Olympic and World Cup games prove to be just as exciting with out many hits and no fights. Something has to be done to get Hockey more mainstream. It is a tough sport to watch on TV, it is more of an in-person sport. That’s how I got into it. A few Badger games, then I got tickets to the Madison minor-league team. I kept getting tickets from work, and kept going, and I was hooked. Before I knew it, I was watching games on TV, owned season tickets, bought hockey jerseys.
Our minor league teams have left town, and I make it to a Badger game from time to time, but it’s just not the same. I play fantasy hockey and watch a game on tv from time to time. So yeah, enough about hockey!
Last weekend, Tim was over for a visit. I picked him up on Saturday and we came back here, then went for a haircut. Lately it seems like anything I want to do that’s not fun and “playey” he doesn’t want to. So I had to coax him into the haircut. I figured I would have to. That wasn’t too bad, we rented some movies at the video place next door. (Thomas the Train video and Seabiscuit) I had made tentative plans to meet up with my Dad and Lisa and go to Olbrich Gardens. So he called during the haircut and we met him over there. It’s pretty neat to walk through a tropical greenhouse type of thing when it’s like four degrees outside. After that, off to my mom’s to make some cookies and eat dinner. Also, we watched Seabiscuit. It was a pretty good movie, although it was kind of long. It was still good!
Then it was time to come home and go to bed. hehe. Sunday was more fun. After dealing with the aftermath of a bloody nose and a lot of “i don’t knows” a temper tantrum or two, we made it through and watched a marathon of thomas the train! I think it’s getting better, I’ve become more of a dad/father than just a big playmate. I’m sure that’s good for everyone all around, right?
This week? Pretty normal. I ate lunch at work every day, didn’t go out at all. I think of all the years I’ve been working there, I’ve never eaten lunch at work every day of a week. It’s kind of nice, and well, it saves money!
I went and saw Elf with Nora last night. Kind of weird watching a Christmas movie in February, but, it was at the cheap theater… It wasn’t too bad. Will Farrell is pretty funny, and all he really did was act like a little kid the whole movie. It was good, but not gut busting funny.
That’s all for now! Thanks for reading, and hey, leave a comment!

Being just a big playmate is the problem I have with kids too. I’m glad to hear that your and Tim’s relationship is evolving into something more. You’re right - it’s a good thing.
As far as the hockey thing goes, I see your point. I think the players and management better get on the same page soon, as far as the new contract goes. I’ve heard it being talked about that the NHL is set to possibly lose up to two seasons with this latest contract dispute. If that’s the case - put a nail in their coffin right now. Hockey can’t afford that.
