slackin’
Tuesday 30 September 2003 @ 11:52 pm

I’m really slacking in the blog department lately!

Nothing really worth posting I guess

I golfed on Saturday morning, that wasn’t too bad. Had a yummy fish fry on Friday night, I was REALLY hungry, got soup, salad, fried bluegill. Yum.

Hockey season is nearly approaching, and I’ll be wasting time in fantasy hockey again. I think i’ll try to not pay TOO much attention to it this year, as, well, I didn’t win last year, and I was trying to go for 4 straight years of kicking everyone’s ass! hehe So this year, I’m in yahoo, which is a different type of “fantasy hockey”. it’s more roster/game based, where as the old one is more salary/roster based. I’m still doin both though. heh

This should be the last week of fall softball season. I’ve been in an incredible slump lately. It is kind of annoying! 1-4 tonight. Yuck, and it’s fugging cold out!

I’ve noticed lately that I’m following sports a lot more. It’s kind of weird, but I’m guessin it has to do with being single for so long! Who knows…

Softball again wed an thurs… yay

Yikes
Wednesday 24 September 2003 @ 12:20 am

Been a week since the last post!

I’ve come down with a little cold or something.

It sucks I tell ya! But yet, I manage to go into work. Yay me i guess

I’m trying out Yahoo fantasy hockey this year, it’s different, but hopefully I fare well. It’s not like the kind i’m used to, but eh, it’s free! the draft was today, and I got some okay players… last years playoff MVP and some good goal scorers.

we won our co-ed softball game last thursday with authority! It’s nice to win big once in a while, and we lost our men’s game tonight.

so, yeah, boring old crap again… nyquil kicking

Softball
Wednesday 17 September 2003 @ 11:42 pm

Tuesday, again, softball night. No, I didn’t get to follow up last week’s game with 3 HR’s. Hell, I haven’t hit one since then, and i’ve played in 5 games. blah, well, still some singles n stuff.

Um, fantasy hockey should start soon. yay

Softball tonight… it sucked. yah, playing with strangers kind of sucks, and when you only need 10 guys, and have 13 playing? yeah, that sucks too

What else sucks? When you try to talk to someone a few nights in a row, and they have such shitty days, they don’t like to talk to you or anyone I assume. Hey, I’m just trying to help! Of course, I’m snotty about it, but dammit, I’m selfish and wanna talk to the dood! *sigh*

Work has been kinda busy lately. I need to clean my office up! hah. Got some new computers, and one with some nifty audio editing software. So, that’s fun to figure out new stuff, and then get to teach other people about the new things. It came at a good time, as we are getting a new main voice guy for stuff like “Sunday at 6 on FOX 47″ and things like that. So the guy sends stuff as WAV files and they need to be transferred to MiniDisc. Just so happens, I got a MiniDisc player/recorder with the new system, and stuff.

Wow, I didn’t think I’d write that much, I’m kind of multi-tasking and then coming back to the blog and typing more!

So, Sunday, yeah, I went to my mom’s. Two of my Aunts were there, one from Racine and one from Green Bay. It was Aunt Joyce’s 72nd birthday. I got there just in time for breakfast, then it was Packer Game time… then afterwards, some hanging out, then about time to get going on Dinner. Shish Kabobs! Now, I like onions and meat. But cherry tomatoes, green and red peppers, mushrooms… are not on my list of things I like. So, yeah, meat for me!

Tomorrow, it’s Co-ed softball night fun fun.

Well, til next time. Yawn!

Rainy Day
Saturday 13 September 2003 @ 4:20 pm

How come when a rainy day finally comes, you forget all the stuff you were supposed to save for a rainy day?

Alright, so, picking up where I left off… Wednesday night, it’s sort of a bonus night of softball. Played at 6pm, and won that game, then one of the 7pm teams needed a lot of people, so, 5 of us played for their team at 7. Won that game too 15-0. But man, 3 games so far in 2 days, I’m not used to that!

Thursday, I went over to my mom’s after work to fix her grill and show her some neat new technology called “peer to peer” heh. She was excited. Oh, and after fixing the grill, I got to cook brats on it. :) Afterwards, I met up with someone that was joining our softball team, kinda. We now have too many women on the co-ed team. Kind of sucks, but what can ya do… We lost too. Everything went wrong. It was horrible! heh And, nope, no home runs for MattyMo. I think I used them all up on Tuesday night!

And so it goes…

and 3 days later…
Wednesday 10 September 2003 @ 12:13 am

… another post! Normal stuff.

Wow, the Packers just plain sucked!! still… sheesh.

Had the “Mosh Pit” Monday night… was perty decent, but again, ran out of time! too much metal for 3 hours I tell ya.

Tonight was Men’s league fall softball. We played the hated “Dales Heating” I think I posted about them before… they are just not fun to play, just a bunch of dicks. We really wanted to beat them, because well, they seem to have our number. I tried to do my part… did something I’ve never done in a game… three home runs!! But it still wasn’t enough… :( There’s another team I’m playing for on Wednesdays too, and the normal Thursday games. So, yah.

Oh, and I got a haircut tonight… it was WAY overdue… The H-Bomb ( my friend Heather) did the deed, and I think i’m 5 pounds lighter!

Story Time!
Sunday 7 September 2003 @ 1:37 am

First off… Recap… Cubs/Brewers game… Sucked. I went with mike on Friday night. Slow ass traffic just to get across Madison, made it to milwaukee pretty quick, until Waukesha/Brookfield… then, traffic Jam the whole way to Miller Park. Missed about the 1st two innings, but once there, it sucked again, because of ALL of the CUBS FANS! It was embarrassing. But what can you do… we’ll take their money!

So, back to story time. I’m listening to some old Queensryche now. “The Warning” to be exact. I consider the Ryche to be up there as one of my more favorite bands. But, around Freshman year in HS (in Hinsdale, IL), I was working for a news agency, assembling and just about everything having to do with Sunday’s Chicago Tribune. At the time I was more into popular music, which yup, is now that cheesey 80’s stuff. I worked with a few “burnouts” as we called them back then. Smokers, long-hairs, stoners…etc. They’d go for little walks in the alleys to use their “hitters.” I was more of the “geek-nofriend” category. I wasn’t a computer nerd, wasn’t a math geek, just one of those kids that would easily be forgotten and never really made a mark anywhere. heh. Anyways, I had my job, and did it well with all sorts of different dudes… So, the burnout guys would bring in a HUGE “Ghetto Blaster” and play the same crap every week. It was annoying noise… the singers going “warrrnnninnnngggggg” all the time. All I would do is make fun of it. And they would just laugh! Welllll… I get into college, and I had been starting to like heavier music… more Led Zeppelin, and that GNR “Appetite for Destruction” CD was the heaviest thing I had. I guess I was just heading on a path to heavier music. I was DJ at the college station (it was a classic-rock type of format). On Saturday nights, there was a show called “Power Tracks.” This show played heavier stuff, like, yup, Great White, Warrant, Quiet Riot, etc. (this was the early 90s, that was still cool then!). So, I was asked to fill in for this show one week, and a few more times. Well, I didn’t know much about this, or heavier stuff, but it was cool to have a show with a little more freedom (requests!) than the other regular classic rock shows. People were requesting heavier stuff, and I didn’t know any better and I’d play it… Slayer, Metallica, Metal Church and that sort of stuff. After a little while, I found myself kind of liking this new “music!” Flash forward some more, I get into some Queensryche, like their “Operation Mindcrime” and at the time, the new “Empire” CD’s. So, I work backwards in their catalogue, and find their “The Warning” album. And the title song comes on… and I just had to laugh and remember the good old days, and that now it has come full circle. After filling in for that “Power Tracks” show, it ended up where I turned it back into the “Heavy Metal Meltdown” (which it was years before that… a real metal show) And since then, back in say, 1991, I’ve gone to countless concerts, have a buttload of Metal CDs, and still program a weekly Metal Radio show. I wonder what ever happened to those “burnouts”….

quickie post
Friday 5 September 2003 @ 2:30 am

1st co-ed softball game tonight, we won, in the bottom of the 7th… 8-7!
I didn’t hit it out of the infield. THAT is sucky! I ate an emil’s pizza after the game. very yum. Killed some time, went downtown to see a local prog-metal band play at the Annex. They were pretty good, but it makes for a late nite!

Wednesday night i went to the Brewer game, brewers won! And speaking of winning, i won the leftover tickets from work again, so I’m going to the game tonight (Friday) too! There were 10,000ish people there on Wednesday. Well that was against a team worse than the brewers (Reds)! Friday, the cubs come to town, meaning a LOT of cubs fans will be there….. probably more than the brewers fans… so that will not be great, but it will be fun to see the place full!!

so much for the quickie post!!

i need a hair cut

softy ball
Tuesday 2 September 2003 @ 10:47 pm

Fall league softball started tonight… men’s league.. we won! 11-3 or something. I played first base ( i like first base), and it was a fun game. It’s a lot more fun when the other team is fun as well.

The “mosh pit” was decent on Monday night. I’ve had better…. Oh well, after 9 years, it’s okay to not have an awesome show every week. You know, it’s like after some nights, I’ll get done, and think, Yeahhhh \m/ that ruled. Then the inmates write letters confirming that. hehe.

Going to the Brewers game tomorrow… got tix from work, and I made a pact with Erin from work (softball coach dood too) that if he won, he takes me and if I won, I take him… well, I won! hah So that should be cool.

Notice how there’s no cohesion on this blog? I have a friend in Chicago that writes a good blog, and he’s actually been updating it regularly. He writes in real sentences and uses nice good grammar and all that. I am a product of chat rooms, so I tend to just type in more of a conversational style. It’s not really that great for typing reports and newsletter articles or anything… but after a few proofreads it’s all good! hah

Saw a couple movies this weekend. Daredevil.. it was good, Bed Affleck as a blind superhero… great effects and although a predictable story, it was still a good movie. Followed that up with House of 1000 Corpses. Let me start off by saying that I’ve never really been a huge horror movie fan, so maybe I didn’t get something… but this was the worst movie I have ever seen. And i will not say anything else.
:)
