My hard drives are going soft! Another one died… that’s 140 gigs that just pooped on me in less than 3 weeks. This one, a 60 gig seagate is under warranty, and I still have to check with Dell (dude!) about the warranty on the 80 gigger.
Played softball on the men’s team last night, and, well, it sucked, I don’t know what it is, but man, the teams we play aren’t that good, and we aren’t that bad, but I guess we are, looking at the standings. heh. It is fun to get out and play another night a week!
We were the 3rd best team for the co-ed Thursday team, so that means we play the other 4 of the top 5 teams and one of the bottom 5 teams. The best of the last 5 games plays the winner of the first 9 games for the championship. Whew. Last year, we won the 1st half, but did not have the best record in the 2nd half, therefore, we had to play in the championship game. or something.
ANYWAYS… we play at 10pm tomorrow night. Ugh.
This weekend, it’s Family reunion time. I took Friday and Monday off. I’ll be going up Friday and I’ll be coming back Monday in time for the ‘ol Mosh Pit. My dad rented a cottage up near Lakewood, WI, close to where the reunion will take place. It’s all of the offspring of my Dad’s mom/dad. So the four Mommaerts (Mike, Ken, Roger and Patrick (my dad) boys and all their offspring (yah, that’s me) Should be cool, people coming from Texas, Nebraska, Michigan, Green Bay, etc.
As you may know, I work for a TV station, well, the May ratings books came out, and our station did very well… so the powers that be, thought, hey, let’s thank the staff by having a continental breakfast at 7:30am on Wednesday! Well, as you may know, I’m a slacker and make it in around 10. But, Hey, this is a good opportunity to get up early, then make it to work on time. So, yup, that’s what I did. Yay me. Although a thank you breakfast at McDonald’s would have been cool too. Sausage McMuffin with Egg. Mmmmmmmmmm
That’s all for now… does anyone actually read this ?
Some photos from softball on 6/12 are up…
Coming soon: 6/19 pix and Golfing on Sat pix

Please comment on how you did!
Started off by helping a friend move! Was a decent move… small 1st floor apt. to a 2 BR Duplex (1st Floor!) Yay!
Beautiful day!!
Went right from there to Janesville to golf with my Dad and his Friend Denny and Denny’s Brother Donald. Again, PERFECT day, I got some sun without really getting burned, and on the front nine, I finished off with 2 pars in a row… 48 was the front nine total… Back 9 I got a par, and choked on a few other holes, never did get the total. Was fun, first time out… got a small blister on my thumb (reminds me of a Dire Straits song hehe) and big blister on a toe! Damn toes.
After that… drove back to Madison to meet up with Mike (Encyclopedia) and he drove us to Alpine Valley to go see Pearl Jam! It was nice to not have to drive and thanks to my friend Karrie, we got in for nothin’. Was a good show! I have never seen PJ before, and wow, they really can pack them in… it if wasn’t sold out, it was DAMN close!! And we left a bit early… only song that we missed was probably “Alive” as they did a lot of the good stuff in the middle.
Quick ride home with a stop at the Pinecone, and it was all good… here I am posting to you.
sign the guestbook!!
Hey…
I reformatted my puter… nice fresh copy of XP… replaced that bad drive, and now this beast in the “nerd corner” is good to go.
Yeah, that was the extent of my activity on Saturday.
Sunday, Fathers Day… went to my dad’s grilled out, came home.
Worked all week, had a lil stress here and there, but it worked out for everyone!
Played softball on Tuesday, we lost :(, but won on Thursday!!
well, a new drive arrived, still having booting problems, now i’m just gonna re-do it all on this stupid computer. what else am I gonna do on a saturday, right?
won our softball game on thursday
saw the mermen at the annex last night, took a bunch of pix for the web site and learned how to use the camera a little better

I shouldn’t have said anything!

WindowsXP Uptime
I know, Linux, unix type people will say how great it is… but for any Windows product that gets used every day to do a whole bunch of different stuff… check this out:
WindowsXP Uptime
Okey dokey….
First off, I have pictures from the Softball game last Thursday online… direct link here
Friday, I got tickets to the Brewers game in Milwaukee… once again, I took the camera. Pix here
I’m still trying to figure out how to take some great pictures with this thing. I guess I haven’t really taken a lot in good light, so they all end up a little blurry, as the shutter has to be open longer, and I’m a little shaky. Practice practice practice!
I saw the movie Identity (with Ray Liotta, John Cusack and Amanda Peet) last night! Great movie! Kind of a horror/thriller type movie. And, nope, I won’t tell you anymore about it, as, well, it may spoil it. Go see it if you like this kind of movie!
Lazy day Sunday!!!
I subbed again for a men’s slow pitch softball team on Tuesday, got a home run again! 2 game HR streak… yay! We won 11-3.
Tonight (Thursday), co-ed team played… we won again! so now we are 4-3… 10pm game too, ugh… got another home run!! 3 games 3 homers… finally found a groove… 2 doubles too.
Watched game 5 of the stanley cup finals at my mom’s tonight, in HDTV… was pretty cool! Nice n clear… but still a way to go to make it look as good and seamless as “normal” games are….
Ankle is feeling better
I’m kicking ass in playoff fantasy hockey, mainly just because I still have players that are still playing! ![]()
I will have pictures from the game up soon, they are kinda boring already LOL, same people playing softball every week. I’ll have to get creative pretty soon!
OOOOH yeah… Had a pledge drive for my radio show on WORT monday night… went pretty well, I exceeded my goal… pretty good considering most metal-heads are cheap and poor. LOL
And…. the new Metallica CD sucks… the DVD sounds way better!
I’ve gotten this email a few times in a few different forms over the years, but it never gets old, because, well, it’s so true!..
I Can’t Believe We Made It!
According to today’s regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or even the early 80’s, probably shouldn’t have survived.
Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint.
We had no childproof lids or locks on medicine bottles, doors, or
cabinets, and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets.
Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking ….
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors!
We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in
it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing.
We shared one soft drink with four friends , from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We would leave home in the morning and play all day , as long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. No cell phones. Unthinkable!
We did not have Play stations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound,
personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms.
We had friends! We went outside and found them.
We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really hurt.
We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents . They were accidents. No one was to blame but us. Remember accidents?
We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it.
We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen , we did not put out any eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s home and knocked on the door, or rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them.
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team . Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment.
Some students weren’t as smart as others, so they failed a grade and
were held back to repeat the same grade.
Horrors!
Tests were not adjusted for any reason.
Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected.
The idea of parents bailing us out if we got in trouble in school or
broke a law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the school or the law. Imagine that!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem
solvers, and inventors, ever.
We had freedom, failure, success, and
responsibility — and we learned how to deal with it.
And you’re one of them!
Congratulations.
So, I didn’t end up going to the Cubs game on Saturday. I wussed out. Long drive, coupled with the icky cold weather kind of put a damper on it for me. Yup, I wussed out. Sue me. twice within a month I had tickets and didn’t go to a show. The Cubs tix weren’t paid for, so not so much of a biggie. The other thing, was, yah, while it did end up being a “good game” (The game went into 16 innings, cubs won 1-0), I’m sure I would have left the game by then anyways. So that makes me feel a LITTLE better!
Other than that. yawner of a weekend. I suck
ankle still hurts
WORT Pledge drive monday night
yay.
