Saw a GREAT metal show in Milwaukee last night with Andy and Mike. Shadows Fall headlined a show with Cephalic Carnage, Unearth and Shai Halud. Cephalic Carnage started off, death metal, cookie monster stuff, but played the theme from King of the Hill (normal), but then put on a killer death metal show. Usually Death metal sounds like crap live. LOL, well usually death metal just sounds like crap! C.C. is good stuff, and they sounded good too. Unearth came up next and they were fun to watch, and had a great sound too! Great guitar player… singer was okay, was a little whiney because not enough people were “moving”. Dude, you are an opening band, don’t yell at people. just play, give it your all, like the rest of the guys in your band, and shut the hell up! I think he “got it” when the fans did get into them more towards the end. :)
Up next was Shai Halud. They are more of a hardcore band, and it looked like the drummer had a fake leg. Was a solid performance, but I am not a huge fan of hardcore. So it was good for what they do… i didn’t hate it, but it was my least favorite band of the night. (The set changes were fast!) Then Shadows Fall took the stage! They have a wide variety of influences, so they can straight out kick your ass with metal, then come back with a really catchy riff. They wrapped up the night (after talking about how they’ve been watching Metal weekend on VH1 Classic) with a cover of Motley Crue’s “Live Wire” They did a great job, and a good way to wrap up the night.

Now, on the other hand, the “pit” at this show was just stupid. Hardcore pit kids look like idiots. LOL flailing their arms around, stomping up and down. I miss the good ol metal pit, where everyone just shoved and slammed into each other. This thing looked like people were trying to hurt others, and that’s not really cool. The “nu metal” pits are just kids jumping up and down… that’s dumb too. what’s my point? no point really Just typing words to take up space. :-)

Been a while since a decent post, and yup, once again, i’ll re-emphasize, I am still a slacker when it comes to blogging. Our country started a war, and it’s ugly. Not like the last few wars we were in… send some planes over, shoot some missles, war over. I just hope it ends okay, but it won’t , it’ll get way uglier before it gets better. What does kind of suck, is well, the lack of use of chemical weapons. The treaty that the world signed a bunch of years back even banned the use of Tear gas. Yeah, Tear Gas. Cops can use it in riots, but it is forbidden in warfare. We can kill people, but can’t make them sleep and conquer them. Neat stuff. Such is life! I spose I could go on and on about this war stuff, anyone can. we all have our own opinions, and hell, mine are swayed different ways every day!

Last weekend I went out both nights, was quite fun! Watched the Oscars and a DVD on Sunday, had my show Monday, Bartended Tuesday, and here I am on Wednesday…. I got a new cellphone. I have Cingular, and kept the same plan. It was only 30 bucks, and it was just time for a new toy. :) Motorola C331t

S, that’s about it for now…. more later!

more busy-ness
Wednesday 19 March 2003 @ 10:47 pm

Hey.

Been busy again…. and, well, it’s okay, right? Went to a Hockey game in Milwaukee on Sunday night with my friend Missy. She got luxury box seats from her employer, and it was cool! Great day, and we went to the best Gyro place in Milwaukee for a nice big Gyro plate before the game… then went right to the store to get some gum and breath mints! The Admirals played the Utah Grizzlies, and well, the Admirals suck. But, they did tie the game, then lost in OT. Afterwards, just headed back home. Monday was radio show night.

Also, I got my new computer at work and setting it up is a bitch. heh But it’s good enough and, dude, it’s a Dell. quite fast too!

Last night I went back to Milwaukee with Mike and we took in a concert at the Rave (ballroom) Mudvayne with special guest In Flames. Now, In Flames are from Sweden, and they are a great band! They originated the “gothenburg” sound. I guess it is officially described is Melodic Death Metal? Very melodic, yet heavy at times music, with both screamy growly vocals trading off with clean singing vocals. It’s quite good if you can get by the growliness of it. :) Whew. Mudvayne is the typical “nu metal” type of band that frequents WJJO. and they were suprisingly good! Quite heavy and entertaining to watch. We did leave early though and stopped half way for some food.

and today, well, it was hump day… 2 more days left, and it is nice to be busy again at work. was slow for a little while there, but now it’s busy and the days go by quite fast!

Busy week!
Saturday 15 March 2003 @ 1:58 pm

Been Busy! Riverdance on Tuesday… Wednesday I checked out The Reverend Horton Heat at Luther’s Blues in Madison. He puts on a rocking great show! I’ve heard a lot about how great of a show it is, and it’s nice that he lived up to the hype. I’m sure I’ll have to be checkin him out when he (and the band) come through town again.

Thursday I had to work, to make up for not workin on Tuesday. :) Then a friend from Texas was up, so I went out to meet up with her and her friend, that was cool, she was visiting her dad around here. So it was cool to catch up and just go out.

Friday, I worked at the restaurant and it was quite busy… I just came home and crashed. Slept in today, and damn, it sure is nice! Wish I had something to do outside! hehe.

Dude! I got a new computer at work. Yup, it’s a dell. After using the same comptuer for 3 years, configuring a new one to do the same stuff takes a while! All the scheduled taxks, files, program settings, saved passwords, etc etc etc… So yeah, hopefully I can get that going next week. Then I have to unconfigure all the stuff from the old one to put somewhere else in the buidling! Fun stuff I tell ya!

Fantasy Hockey Update: well, it’s going okay. Still hanging on to third place, and it’s quite the fight for 2nd, we keep yo-yoing back and forth. I just hope I YO forward and stay in 2nd at the end of the season… ONE MORE MONTH!! But, then softball starts. so, yeeesh!

Just got home from Riverdance at the Madison Civic Center. The show is in town til Sunday. I must say I’m impressed. I like theatre type shows, and this one was quite entertaining. Talented dancers, singers and musicians. It was a great show! It just amazes me how this big of a group of people travel the country and do the same thing night after night. They are probably living their dreams and all, but I’m sure doing the same show night after night, and basically being around the same people day after day, waiting, being bored in strange towns must get on you after a while. But, then again, after people give you a standing ovation every night, I’ll bet they forget about all the lil crap!
:)

mmm food
Thursday 6 March 2003 @ 11:13 pm

Well, I actually had BREAKFAST today! Nothing really healthy or anything, it was a Sausage McMuffin with egg / hash browns and a coke from you know where. It was quite good, and it made my morning go by a bit better. I really need to start eating breakfast! I then had a late lunch at the food court with some Chicken Teriyaki from the japanese place. Then topped it off with a Reese’s Blizzard. Very yum! Then I had a nice salad with some chicken for dinner. I can’t remember the last time I had 3 “real” meals in one day. I really need to start eating right. Right?

I’m listening to The Haunted right now. Great awesome speed thrashy metal. Actually I’m on my 3rd listen in a row. Crazy!

Oh yeah!
Thursday 6 March 2003 @ 12:33 am

I have a Blog I’m supposed to post to! Usually when it comes time to post to it, I don’t have much to say.

Tonight the Badger Men’s Basketball team clinched the regular season Big Ten Crown! First time they won it outright since like 1947 or something. All because of their coach, Bo Ryan. Bo was the coach in lil ol UW Platteville when I went to school there. He is the winningest coach in the history of men’s college basketball (all divisions) In the first year that Platteville was in the NCAA (Division III), they won the championship. Pretty cool.

I don’t say much about fantasy hockey anymore because whenever I say anything good, I end up having bad nights. I like to try not to be so superstitious, but damn, it happens to much, so I’ll just stop talking about it for a while!

And, Snow. Yes. Beautiful white snow. It’s about time we got some of this stuff here! It just isn’t right to not have snow. I guess I don’t mind it, since I now have a garage and don’t have to shovel. LOL So it’s pretty to look at.

That’s aboot it for now!
