Testing testing… one two… three?
Today was field trip day! I along with some friends went down to Chicago to check out the Blackhawks get spanked by the Dallas Stars. (3-0!) Was a terrible boring game to watch, but it’s always fun to be in an NHL arena. Would have been more fun if the home team showed up to play! Before the game, we all went to Ed Debevic’s. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a restaurant similar to an old diner, great food, and the waitstaff have fun by being rude to you, or just a lil weird. It’s something everyone should do once. LOL It was my first time there, everyone else had been to the one in Milwaukee before it closed of course.
The drive was pretty quick. A quick dash downtown and back. and of course, I didn’t speed!
This week at work should be fun, I get to be in Master Control all 5 days, as someone is out for medical leave. I get to fill in parts of mon-wed, and my normal times on thurs and friday. Getting paid to watch tv, fun, right? Well, of course it’s more than that, but it’s fun to just say it that way!
I tuned into the Mike Tyson fight on Saturday night, that was a thriller. It was neat to just see Mike pummel a guy, but then the guy got knocked out, but had enough sense to pull out his mouthpiece! funny.
And, then, Friday. A nightmare occurred for people in Rhode Island. I’m sure you’ve heard about the tragedy at the night club at the Great White show. I’ll just say a few things about it. Fireworks in a small club like that is moronic. Besides, you are GREAT WHITE… you don’t need that crap in the first place. You don’t have any new good songs, you can just live on the great songs you had in the past, screw the fireworks, it doesn’t make you play better and you aren’t in an arena. I have been to a LOT of shows in clubs that size, and it’s just nice when the band finally comes out. There are more than a few places I’ve been where I could just see a tragedy happening. Too many people, power trippy security, not enough exits or stairs, too packed. Just a mixture for disaster. I sure hope club owners across the world can learn from this and make this sort of thing a better, safer experience. It’s senseless for 1/3 of people in this place to die. This is worse than the shuttle disaster in my book, it’s a no brainer, look at the body count and for the peopled that DID excape, they will be disfigured and disabled for life.
Okay then. Other than that, I watched a lot of news on friday, because of the big explosion in NYC, and the club fire stuff. I ended up having a great night at work on Friday, it was lots of fun 
Fantasy Hockey update you ask? Well, I’m still in 3rd place, but keeping a close eye on 2nd. I went to the Blackhawks game with people I play F.H. with, and the 1st place guy had the Stars’ goalie on his team, and he gets a shut out. Bastard. 
I went shopping last night. JC Penney’s was having a clearance, so I used up my b-day and xmas gift cards and got some great deals on some stuff, and a few neeeded pairs of jeans!
Tonight I went to dinner with my dad, been a while since that…. I also got away cheap on that too. LOL I used our food certificates that we got from work for a “Christmas bonus” so that was nice, I had deep fried shrimp and a beer or three. 
It’s been so long since I had some Deep Fried shrimp!
Also, if you recall, I had ordered a hot deal on a Staples multifunction machine back in Jan…, well I’d call Staples here and there asking about status. I’d just get that it’s backordered, etc etc. According to my deals message board, I knew this 3 weeks ago, I just thought I’d play it out for a while and see what happened. Well, today was enough, I asked, and then talked to the supervisor. And, yup, I’m left with nothing, just like everyone else! No substitutions! IT was a “while supplies last” deal. yah, right. they ran out, and then they put that on their web page. ANYWAYS, they gave me their corporate number, so I’ll give them an earful!
So, I’m getting excited about going to the Blackhawks/Stars game on Sunday in Chicago. NHL Games are always a treat!

To, Me! I dunno why I said that, it was just something to say I suppose. Here I sit on Sunday night, losing at Yahoo! Pool, my kitty is curled up in a ball on the couch. I saw a couple movies this weekend. The cheap theater can be fun! James Bond and Star Trek fun fun.
Okay, i just sunk the 8 ball against some bitch on yahoo pool, 3rd ball down, and she leaves… not even a chance to play a real game! haha the simple things in life can be so irritating.
Bought a couple DVDs yesterday too… xXx and K19 Widowmaker. Watched K19 today, and it was boring! But I got to hang out with the cat.
Oh well, that’s about it.
Happy Valentine’s Day. Yup, alone again! I’ll be bartending and serving up drinks for those with dates. I guess I don’t mind too much, as my actions have put me in this spot. right? Right.
I actually played pinball again tonight, and on a whim decided to fix some of the drop targets. You’d hit them all down and some of the time, they wouldn’t pop up! So I tore it apart, (a wire broke and I had to solder it back) scotch brighted the contacts, used some electrical lube on the contacts, also put on some new target stickers I got from ebay a LONG time ago. Works like a charm! I would love to add to my pinball machine collection some day, especially ones from this era. Gorgar is from 1979 and was the very first talking pinball machine. I’ve also heard that it’s the first one to use a magnet as part of the game play. But I got it back in 1985, and it’s been a champ…

Was quite an interesting drive home tonight. Very snowy and blowing snow. Quite icky, but when you get to where you want to go in weather like that, you feel REALLLY great when you get there! I wish I had a camera to take some pictures of the white-out crap I had to drive through! Slow night tonight, we closed early at the restaurant. Just reallly dead!
I got my fixed glasses today, and so far so good, it seems to be right, now just to get used to this prism stuff!
I turned on Gorgar today, and played a couple games, still works pretty good, and, well, it does need a little work. Some switches don’t trip right, so things don’t pop up right away when you knock them down, but all in all, still a great pinball machine!!
Now, I’m watching Rush’s “Chronicles” DVD. Pretty much a bunch of their 80’s videos, and that’s what they are, 80’s! But still great, They were state of the art at the time. Just think of what they could do now!
Last night was a WORT Pledge drive, (week#1) made my goal, which is always good. It’s kind of fun, but a pain sometimes, yet a necessary evil! It seems like we just got done with the last one, but dang, that was last October already. Time sure flies!
And, yup, as of right now, I’m still in 2nd place in my lil Fantasy Hockey League! Of course, now that I mention that, I’ll lose
Was a very busy night at the restaurant last night. big party, lots of drinks, and a few people asking “did you go to school to be a bartender?” hah. if they only knew I was just a rookie. hehehe
and in the big news of the day… I took over 2nd place in Fantasy Hockey! Now I just need to maintain that spot and build some distance! Of course it can all change back in a blink of an eye. I guess I’m just happy about it since I started off so crappy, and have worked my way back up! woohoo!!
Some relatives are in town. My 1st cousin, Roger Jr. (son of Uncle Roger) was in Milwaukee for work and came over to my part of the state. Also, Uncle Mike and aunt Elaine came down from Green Bay. My cousin Kelly (daughter of uncle Ken) lives here already, so all of the Mommaerts clan were represented! They came to sis’s restaurant last night, and I met up with them for lunch and we went to the botanical gardens today. It was a lot of fun, and fun to hang out with some people I haven’t seen in a long time! I’ll get to see them again over the summer at a family reunion. Roger had some cool toys too, I liked his Digital Camera, I thought about stealing it, but that wouldn’t be very nice.
Tonight, workin at the cottage again. Big party coming in, so it should be quite busy.

I have some relatives coming in from out of town this weekend (my dad’s side) They are coming into the restaurant on friday night, and i’ll be workin. I’ll be workin saturday too. whooopie
Work work, has been busy lately, but nothing really exciting, just catching up on stuff, and trying to figure out how to get myself a new computer!
I went to Target tonight on the way home from work, peruzed their clearance items. I got a softball bat for 1/2 off ($15), a golf glove and a duffel bag, to replace my one that’s falling apart. I use it to bring cd binders and my playlist planner down to the radio station every monday. yay.
I need to catch up on a lot of movies in the theater! James Bond, LOTR, etc etc. anyone wanna go with me?
Well, we all know what happened today. Kind of a throwback to Freshman year of High School, when I was laying on the couch home from school, as I broke my foot the night before. I was just watching Card Sharks, and Dan Rather came on, and well, you know the rest. Today, well, it wasn’t as HUGE of a thing, as, well it did happen before. But yet, still pretty big, and sad too.
Well, this week was interesting. Started off on Sunday, at my Mom and Marv’s. I got to borrow an HDTV off air receiver from work, and well mom and Marv have an HDTV ready tv. So the superbowl looked very pretty! 720 lines of vertical resolution. Regular TV has 480. I’m looking forward to tomorrow, because i’ll be doing the same thing, but for the NHL all star game!
Then, Tuesday, I got to go to the “eye doctor” and get my eyes re-examined, as, well, I wasn’t seeing correctly! I figured out that my left eye’s prescription was off. Something got messed up when I was there the first time, don’t know what it was for sure, so
The rest of the week? well, the usual, I was just too lazy to post anything! I went out with some college friends on Wednesday for one of their Birthdays, that was quite fun! Great to get out with friends again n stuff. All the same old stories come out, but they are still funny!!
Was quite busy at the Cottage last night and tonight.
And, yup, Fantasy Hockey. It’s the all star break and i’m less than 200 points behind 2nd place, i kind of teeder toddered and sucked this week, but it’s all uphill and stuff from here!
